MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After improving to 7-1 with a dramatic 33-28 win over Charlotte at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium on Saturday, the University of Memphis football team moved back into the US LBM Coaches Poll Top 25 and received 34 votes in the AP Poll.
The Tigers received 76 points in the US LBM Coaches Poll to check back in at No. 25 after previously climbing to No. 23 in the Sept. 15 rankings.
Memphis was left just outside of the AP Top 25 with its 34 votes received being good for No. 27.
Memphis is one of just three Group of 5 teams ranked in the Coaches Poll, joining No. 19 Boise State (6-1) and No. 21 Army (7-0). Tulane (27), Navy (10), UNLV (7) and James Madison (2) each received votes.
In the AP Poll, No. 15 Boise State is the highest-ranked Group of 5 program followed by No. 21 Army.
The Tigers' 7-1 start is the best since Memphis did the same in 2019 before finishing 12-2. Memphis has scored 20 or more points in 35-consecutive games – the longest active streak in the nation – dating back to a 33-28 win over Tulane on Nov. 27, 2021.
Memphis hits the road for San Antonio next weekend for an 11 a.m. kick on ESPN2 against UTSA.
Memphis fans can see the Tigers back in action at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium on Friday, Nov. 8 in an American Athletic Conference matchup with Rice. Single-game tickets for the 2024 season can be found at THIS LINK.
