Anderson Jr. Named TSWA Player of the Week

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis senior running back Mario Anderson Jr. was named Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, the association announced.
Anderson Jr. led the Tigers offensively in a wild 52-44 win over North Texas on Saturday at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium, rushing for 183 yards on 22 carries while tying a program record with four rushing touchdowns. He added five receptions for 27 yards to total 210 yards in the win.
The Doak Walker Award candidate's 100-yard rushing effort against North Texas was his fourth of the season. Anderson Jr. ranks sixth nationally with 13 total touchdowns. His 639 rushing yards on the season rank 27th in the country.
Anderson Jr. was previously named to the American Athletic Conference's Weekly Honor Roll on Monday for his performance.
The Tigers are back at home on Saturday, Oct. 26 to host Charlotte (3-4, 2-1 AAC) for Homecoming at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium with kick scheduled for 11 a.m. CT on ESPNU. $11 tickets are available to the Charlotte game to celebrate 11-consecutive years of bowl eligibility for the Tigers.
