MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 16 Memphis women's soccer team took a first-half lead at Track and Soccer Stadium on Sunday afternoon, but East Carolina was able to salvage a point in a 1-1 draw.

The Tigers (9-1-2, 4-0-2 AAC) opened the scoring through senior Anne-Valerie Seto in the 22nd minute and led for over 50 minutes, but a long-range goal from Caitlen-Star Dolan Boodram leveled the score in the 75th minute. Through six conference games, Memphis sits second in the AAC table, one point behind Rice.

"We need to do a better job stressing that every play matters in these big conference games against good teams," said head coach Brooks Monaghan. "We had a lead, had control of the game for a lot of moments but we can't do anything to let it slip."

The home team applied pressure early, and it paid off in the form of a corner kick that Seto headed home from another great delivery from Ai Kitagawa, the second assist this week for the freshman.

Memphis continued to hold control of the game, and another great chance came on the counterattack, but defender Finley Lavin's shot trickled just wide of the post following a long run.

Out of the half, the game slowed which seemed to favor the leading Tigers. With 15 minutes remaining, the Pirates won the ball in the attacking half, and a Dolan Boodram shot from 30-plus yards away from goal landed in the top-right corner of the goal.

Memphis threatened for the remainder of the game but was unable to create a great chance for the winner. Their home winning streak ends at 17 games, but their unbeaten streak at home extends to 25 games.

The Tigers will be back in action this Sunday, Oct. 20, in Boca Raton, Florida, when they take on Florida Atlantic at 6 p.m.. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
