Tigers Post 105-98 Win In La Romana

LA ROMANA, DR. – Jaykwon Walton racked up a team-high 27 points and 14 rebounds as the hooper led Memphis to a 105-98 overtime victory against Trenes Des Este Friday night at the Eleoncio Mercedes.
Walton, a 6-foot-7 guard from Columbus, Georgia, had an answer nearly every time the Tigers called his number, finishing 10-of-17 from the field and 6-of-11 from long distance.
Walton's 27-point night led five Tigers in double figures. Jordan Brown finished with 14 points and five rebounds, while Jayden Hardaway added 13 markers. Nick Jourdain contributed 12 points and five rebounds, as Ashton Hardaway flirted with triple-double territory behind 11 points, seven boards and six assists.
All nine Tigers who dressed saw action, as Jahvon Quinerly nearly missed a double-double with nine points and nine dimes in 37 minutes.
Memphis snagged 50 rebounds in the game as five players pulled down at least five boards.
The Tigers held Trenes to 38.6 percent shooting, including 6-of-43 from three-point range, and forced 17 turnovers in the win.
Memphis shot 50 percent overall (39-78) and 41.4 percent from distance (12/29).
Memphis will be back in action 4 p.m. CT on Sunday against a Dominican Select Team.
