Memphis Volleyball Named to the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The United States Marine Corps and American Volleyball Coaches Association announced today that the Memphis Volleyball team has been named to the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award and Honor Roll. The Tigers, who finished the 2022-23 academic school year with a 3.71 cumulative GPA, ranked in the top 20% of all Division I programs.
"Once again, our student-athletes dedication in the classroom has shown through in receiving the AVCA Team Academic Award, as well as being named to the Honor Roll which puts us in the Top 20% of schools in the Nation!" head coach Sean Burdette shared. "We could not achieve this award without the assistance of a great support staff in our Center for Athletic Academic Support (CAAS) and our Academic Counselors, Kimi Videto & Jalen Phillips that work tirelessly with our team year-round. Our CAAS department is top notch and the academic support our players receive from the day they step onto campus till the end of their career is second to none."
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 or better on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale. The Tigers recorded a 3.68 GPA in the fall followed by a 3.73 GPA in the spring. Memphis continues its five-year streak and notched its 19th award overall.
