Tigers Split Final Weekend at Home

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis men's tennis wrapped up its final weekend at home with a split decision in matches against Wichita State and SMU.Â
Â
The 35th-ranked Tigers roared past the Shockers 4-1 on Friday before dropping their only home match of the season 4-2 against the No. 55 Mustangs on Sunday. They move to 11-6 on the year and 4-1 in American Athletic Conference play. Â

Memphis fell behind against WSU (9-13) losing the doubles point, but bounced back with four-straight wins in singles action to take the match. All four matches were won in straight sets. Â

On senior day, the Tigers once against dropped the doubles point despite David Stevenson and Jeremy Taylor teaming up to win 6-4 on the top line. Â

Pau Fanlo put Memphis on the board with a win in three sets (6-0, 2-6, 6-4) on court six before Oscar Cutting emerged victorious 7-6(5), 6-3 at the No. 3 position. Â
Memphis will close out its regular season at Tulane next weekend (April 15) before turning its attention to the AAC Championships in Orlando, Florida April 21-23. Â
