Tigers Win Fourth Straight Saturday at No. 59 USF

TAMPA, Fla. – The Memphis women's tennis team continued its winning ways Saturday in the Sunshine State with a 4-1 victory at No. 59 South Florida.
The Tigers have now won seven of their last nine matches, including four-straight, to improve to 8-11 overall on the year and 4-0 in conference play.
Memphis fell behind in doubles despite Aran Teixido Garcia and Emily Meyer teaming up to win the first match, 6-4, on court one.
In singles action, the Tigers came roaring out of the gate with straight-set wins in the first three battles. Dolavee Tumthong won 6-2, 6-1 on court six, then Monique Woog prevailed 6-0, 6-2 at the third spot to put Memphis in front on the day, 2-1.
At the second position, Teixido swept 6-1, 7-5 before Meyer finished off her battle in three sets on the fourth line. After splitting the first two frames 6-1 and 2-6, she battled back to get the win 6-4 in the third set.
Memphis will wrap up its regular season Monday in Orlando with an 8 a.m. match against #75 Tulsa at the USTA National Campus.
Memphis will then kick off the American Athletic Conference championship April 19-22, also at the national campus.
