Memphis Picks Up Temple Transfer Nicholas Jourdain

MEMPHIS – The Memphis men's basketball program added its first portal transfer on Wednesday as head coach Penny Hardaway announced the signing of Nicholas Jourdain.
Jourdain (6-9, 215) joins the Tiger program after playing the last three seasons at Temple. Jourdain has two years of eligibility remaining.
"We are excited to welcome Nicholas Jourdain to the Memphis Tiger Family," said Hardaway. "Our staff and I know his game extremely well having coached against him for multiple years. Nicholas embodies everything we look for in a Memphis Tiger player.
"What stands out about him is his high character, his willingness to be coached and his relentless drive to become a better player in addition to everything he offers offensively and defensively."
This past season, he started a career-best 19-of-32 games for the Owls where he averaged 6.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in 23.1 minutes each time out. He opened the season with 10 points, seven rebounds and a season-high four blocked shots against Wagner and went on to score in double figures nine times.
His best game of the season came against Memphis in Philadelphia on Jan. 15 with season highs of 16 points and 10 rebounds. He was 5-of-11 shooting and added three blocks.
The Clifton, New Jersey native has proven his production extends to both sides of the floor as he led Temple with 35 blocked shots (1.09/game) and 54 offensive rebounds, while finishing second on the team shooting 50.0 percent from the field (74-148).
"Offensively, Nicholas is a rare player who can attack inside and out, has a great feel for the game, a high basketball-IQ and has taken over games with his offensive rebounding," said Hardaway. "Defensively, he is an extremely versatile frontcourt defender who can guard size and quickness. More important than any of that is the fact that Nicholas is a winner and his desire to be a part of a championship team and program."
In 2021-22, Jourdain posted 6.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 29 games. He scored a career-high 23 points against Tulsa and recorded career-best totals in rebounds (12), blocks (5) and steals (3) that season.
Jourdain played in 74 games for Temple, including 40 starts, over his three seasons there and tallied 427 career points (5.8 avg) and 320 rebounds (4.3 avg). He additionally recorded 94 blocked shots (1.3 avg).
His is a career 43.1-percent shooter from the floor (151-350) and a 67.6 percent from the free throw line (100-148).
