Tigers Extend Win Streak with Tuesday Sweep at Austin Peay

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – After more than a two-week break, Memphis women's tennis finally returned to the court Tuesday afternoon at Austin Peay and made quick work of the Govs, 4-0.
The Tigers have now won six of their last eight matches, including three straight, to improve to 7-11 overall on the year.
For the eighth time this season, Memphis took an advantage with the doubles point. Dolavee Tumthong and Miriam Grosmann teamed up for a 6-1 rout on court three before Aran Teixido Garcia and Emily Meyer churned out a 7-5 victory on the top line to give the Tigers a 1-0 advantage heading to singles action.
Tumthong used the momentum at the sixth position to quickly earn a 6-3, 6-1 win. Teixido Garcia followed suit on court two and won 6-3, 6-0 before Micah Pierce brought home the clinch point with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5.
Memphis will wrap up its regular season next week weekend with a trip to Florida. The Tigers will battle South Florida on Saturday in Tampa before taking on Tulsa in Orlando on Monday.
Memphis will then kick off the American Athletic Conference Championship April 19-22 in Orlando.
