Memphis Blanks Tennessee State in Home Opener

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tigers wrapped up a perfect weekend and extended the win streak Sunday with a 7-0 victory over Tennessee State in the spring home opener.
The Tigers (5-2) have now won five matches in a row after knocking off No. 13 Northwestern 4-1 on Friday.
Memphis took the doubles point with a pair of 6-3 victories on the first and third courts.
In singles, The Tigers swept three pairings and came from behind in two others to get the 7-0 win.
Pau Fanlo dominated 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 before David Stevenson won 6-2, 6-2 on court two.
Harry Rock came from behind to win 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 at the fourth position and clinch the winning point. Jeremy Taylor won in straight sets (6-4, 7-6(5)) on court four and No. 35 Pablo Alemany had to tough out a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 victory on the top line. Alemany improved to 5-1 on the year in singles.
Juan Zabala closed out the match on court six with another come-from-behind victory 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.
"It was nice to play at home and in front of our fans," head coach Paul Goebel said. "We played well and I'm proud they finished off the weekend strong.
"Thanks to everyone who came out today and cheered us on to victory."

Memphis is back on the court next Sunday (Mar. 5) when Tulsa comes to town for an American Athletic Conference battle.
