Tigers Drop Sunday Match at Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The nonconference slump continued for Memphis as the Tigers dropped a 5-2 match at the University of Louisville Sunday afternoon.
The day started with a tight doubles battle. After the Cardinals (7-2) took the first match at No. 2, Dolavee Thumthong and Miriam Grosmann served up a 6-4 win on court three to even the competition.
Louisville clinched the point at the No. 1 slot, however, with a 7-5 victory.
After the Cards took the first point in singles, Camila Soares scored the first point for the Tigers with a 6-4, 6-4 sweep at No. 2 over Jamilah Snells.
Louisville went up 3-1 with another victory on court three. The Tigers gave the Cardinals a battle on courts four and five, as Monique Woog and Micah Pierce each forced their matches to three sets with wins in the second, but the homestanding squad pulled out the wins and clinched the match.
Aran Teixido Garcia earned the final point of the night in the top slot after coming from behind to win 3-6, 7-5, 6-0.
UP NEXT
The Tigers are back on the court next weekend with a pair of matches in Minneapolis, Minnesota as they take on No. 49 Utah Saturday before squaring off with the host Ghophers on Sunday.
