MOBILE, Ala. – The University of Memphis men's golf team placed 10th of 15 teams at the Hal Williams Collegiate on Tuesday with a team score of 857 (+5). No. 5-ranked Illinois won the tournament at the RTJ Magnolia Grove Golf Club with a total of 816 (-36).
"We were simply not up to the challenge today," head coach Blake Smart said.
KEY MOMENTS
• Junior Esteban Vazquez led the charge for the Tigers, tying for 15th place with a score of 210 (-3). Vazquez carded rounds of 69-71-70 for the two-day tournament.
• Senior James Morgan tied for 31st place with a total of 214 (+1). After back-to-back rounds of 70 in the first two rounds, Morgan closed with a final round 74.
• Adam Coull, Jack Tanner and Ryan van der Klis all tied for 56th place with scores of 219 (+6).
