Dec 16, 2023 | Women's Basketball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's basketball team will play in its final non-conference game of the year when they host (RV) Mississippi State on Sunday afternoon.
Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. inside the Elma Roane Fieldhouse with coverage available on ESPN+.
Memphis (4-6) is coming off its biggest win of the season when the Tigers earned a 69-67 victory over (RV) Southern Miss. The win for Memphis marked the Lady Eagles first loss of the season while the Tigers picked up its highest-ranking win of the year.
Madison Griggs tied the game at 67-67 with 43 seconds left in the game following a three-pointer from the wing. After Southern Miss came down and missed a shot, Ki'Ari Cain put the team on her back and knocked in a floater with two seconds remaining on the clock. The bucket would serve as the game-winning play with the Tigers coming away with the third consecutive home win this season.
For the season, Griggs and Kai Carter have led the team, offensively, while Alasia Smith has cleaned up on the defensive end with a team-best 73 rebounds and 18 steals.

Debreasha Powe led all scorers with 21 points while going 5-8 from long range while Jessika Carter picked up a double-double of 17 points and 18 rebounds – 11 of which came on the offensive end.
For the season, Carter and Jerkalia Jordan lead the team with a combined 32.7 points per game while Carter has cleaned up on the boards with 9.2 rebounds per contest.
While the Bulldogs have taken the last four matchups between the two teams, Memphis leads the all-time series 16-13.
