Tiger Softball Signs Four to Class of 2024
Nov 08, 2023 | Softball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tiger head softball coach Stephanie VanBrakle Prothro announced the addition of four signees to the class of 2024, Faith Brown, Mia Brown, Addison Lund and Avery Shamblin.
Faith Brown | Utility | Nashville, Tenn. | Goodpasture Christian School
VanBrakle Prothro on Faith: "I am excited for the addition of Faith to our Memphis Softball Family. There was an immediate connection on her visit, and I knew she and her family would be a great fit for what we are trying to build. She is a utility player with a strong lefty bat who comes from athletic and coaching stock including her cousin Mac Brown who is a familiar name in coaching. I can't wait to see what she does in a Memphis jersey."
Faith on Why Memphis: "I chose Memphis because the first day I stepped on campus I felt an immediate connection with Coach Stephanie and Coach Caroline. I respected their achievements as both players and coaches. Their attention to detail and excellence in every aspect of the game, and the way they focus on all parts of the student athlete were very impressive to me. I could see myself playing and contributing to this team and was so excited to put on the Tigers uniform. I also love how the city of Memphis embraces the University."
Mia Brown | Firstbase/Utility | Fayetteville, Tenn. | Lincoln County High School
VanBrakle Prothro on Mia: "Mia Brown is an impressive signee for the Memphis Softball roster. Not only is she a strong first baseman and a power left-handed hitter, but I expect Mia to be an impact player right away and make her mark on the program. During her recruiting process I knew she would be a great fit for what we are trying to build. I can't wait for her to wear Memphis across her chest."
Mia on Why Memphis: "I feel like I've worked so hard and faced so many different mental and physical struggles to get to here. I have worked to get to this moment, and I wouldn't want to spend my next four years anywhere else! Little Mia would be so so proud of all she has accomplished. Go Tigers!"
Addison Lund | Catcher/Utility | Appleton, Wis. | Menasha High School
VanBrakle Prothro on Addison: "All coaches are excited about natural athletes with a big bat, and I am thrilled for the addition of Addison who is a power hitter. She is coming from Wisconsin and will tremendously increase our athleticism. I am pleased to have her, and her family come south and join the Memphis family."
Addison on Why Memphis: "I chose Memphis because of the environment, when I went on the visit and fell in love with it. The coaches and players were so open and I felt like I clicked right away."
Avery Shamblin | Pitcher | Cleveland, Tenn. | Baylor School
VanBrakle Prothro on Addison: "Avery is a hard throwing right-handed pitcher who has had a lot of success in high school and travel ball. I'm looking forward to integrating her into the pitching staff where she will add needed pitching depth and complement our other pitchers' strengths. We are looking forward to her and her family joining ours."
Addison on Why Memphis: "I love the big city feel, and the coaching staff. I'm also really glad I get to stay in my home state. I'm so thankful for my family and friends who have supported me through this whole journey, and I can't wait to be officially a tiger!"
