Memphis Falls 3-1 to Florida Atlantic

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The University of Memphis volleyball team dropped their series finale to Florida Atlantic after falling 3-1, on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers (8-19, 4-11 AAC) fought through the match, forcing a fourth set, however were unable to put together a win.
The Tigers recorded 51 kills, 65 digs,10 blocks and two service aces in the match, improving upon Friday night's numbers versus the Owls.

Set One
- Memphis took an early lead in the set, going on a 6-1 run, forcing a Florida Atlantic timeout. The Tigers were aided by kills and blocks from Madison Rice-Locket and Clara Bednarek.
- The Owls created a run of their own composed of back-to-back aces from Raine Lynch and a block from Madison Dyer and Valeria Rosado, tying the set up and forcing a Tiger timeout.
- Memphis and FAU traded points back-and-forth, keeping it close. The Owls took a slight lead late in the set, forcing a second Tiger timeout, but Florida Atlantic held on to its lead, taking the set 25-23.
- The Owls came out strong in set two, taking an early lead after going on a 6-0 run. Florida Atlantic capitalized off a big presence from Arianna Beckham at the net.
- Florida Atlantic put together another 6-0 run midway through the set, forcing a Memphis timeout. The Owls took advantage of Tiger errors to stretch their lead.
- Despite a late push from Memphis with impressive play from the freshman, Jordan Heatherly, Hannah Jones and Eleftheria Baxa, the Owls took set two 25-19.
- Memphis and Florida Atlantic opened the third set going point-for-point; the Owls ran up six straight points, aided by back-to-back aces from Isabelle Northam and kills from Rosado, forcing a Tiger timeout.
- The Tigers brought the score within one point late in the set after three straight blocks from Jones, Rice-Locket and Autumn Flynn.
- Memphis closed out the set on a 5-0 run, taking 25-23 win after kills from Bednarek and Baxa.
- The Owls began pulling away early in the set going on a 5-1 run.
- Baxa and Flynn put up big performances at the net, keeping it close midway through the set.
- The Owls would use a late-set run with kills from Beckham to take to the set 25-21.
- Bednarek led the Tigers in kills with 14, tying her season-high. She was followed by Jones and Baxa with eight each.
- Heatherly notched a double-double in the match, with 18 assists and 10 digs.
- Bednarek led the Tigers in blocks with five, followed by Rice-Locket and Flynn with three.
- Abigail Schlueter and Heatherly both came away with double-digit digs with Schlueter leading with 25.
