KICKING IT OFF
• Coin Toss: Memphis won the coin toss and elected to receive.
• Memphis Captains: Jaylon Allen, Simeon Blair, Seth Henigan and Jacob Likes
• Attendance: 10,381
TEAM NOTES
• With the win, Memphis improved to 5-1 on the road this season, marking just the fourth time in program history a team has accomplished that feat (2019, 2015, 1949).
• Silverfield moved into a tie with Ralph Hatley for second in program history in wins (30) for a head coach through their first-four seasons, trailing only Mike Norvell (38).
• Memphis has scored 20 or more points in 26-consecutive games, the longest active streak in the nation.
• Dating back to the 2021 season, Memphis has forced at least one turnover in 24 of its last 30 games. Over that stretch, the Tigers have totaled 35 interceptions and 19 fumbles. Memphis has forced multiple turnovers in 16 of those 28 contests.
• Over the last six games, Memphis has scored 272 points – the most over a six-game stretch since the Tigers scored 330 (55 PPG) in a four-game span in 2017 (vs. Houston, Tulane, Tulsa, SMU, ECU, UCF).
PLAYER NOTES
• On the game's first offensive play, quarterback Seth Henigan launched a 54-yard strike to wide receiver Joseph Scates that was reeled in for a touchdown to give the Tigers an early 7-0 lead after the PAT by Tanner Gillis.
• Henigan found running back Sutton Smith for an 11-yard touchdown pass with 7:50 to play in the first quarter – the first of Smith's career.
• Running back Brandon Thomas found paydirt from a yard out for his 26th rushing touchdown of his career (sixth-most in Memphis history) to give the Tigers a 21-6 lead after the Gillis PAT.
• With Temple threatening from inside Memphis' redzone, linebacker Chandler Martin came down with a big interception just before halftime to set up a seven-play, 98-yard drive (1:20) that was capped off by Henigan's third touchdown pass of the half – a 13-yard swing pass to running back Blake Watson.
• Henigan completed 14-of-21 passes in the first half for 210 yards and three scores to move to second all-time for career passing yards at Memphis (10,409 after today). Henigan now trails only Brady White (10,730) for the most passing yards in program history.
• On his eighth carry of the game, Watson eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards for the season to become just the eighth Tiger to accomplish the feat and marking the 12th 1,000-yard season by a Tiger running back.
• Later that drive, Watson punched in his 14th rushing touchdown of the season and 17th overall touchdown.
• Gillis drilled a 21-yard field goal with 10:47 remaining in the game to extend Memphis' lead to
• Thomas rattled off a 42-yard gain on the ground late in the fourth quarter for his longest rush of the season. He ended the game with nine totes for 76 yards and a score.
• Henigan tossed his fourth touchdown pass of the contest with 3:54 remaining, finding tight end Brendan Doyle for a two-yard score.
• Henigan finished the game 18-for-28 for 250 yards, four touchdowns and one interception.
• Watson carried the ball 15 times for 95 yards and added four receptions for 39 yards (134 combined). It marked the eighth game this year that Watson has gone over the century mark for combined rushing and receiving yards.
