No. 8 Tigers Set to Face No. 11 Pitt in NCAA Third Round

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 8-ranked and sixth-seeded University of Memphis women's soccer team will play in its second-consecutive NCAA Third Round match on Sunday when it takes on No. 11 and seventh-seeded Pitt at Razorback Field. Kick-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. with coverage available on ESPN+.
Memphis (20-1) picked up its 17th-straight win on Friday behind goals from Finley Lavin (16'), Saorla Miller (76') and Ashley Henderson (77') while Kaylie Bierman recorded a career-high six saves in route to her 18th win this season. The Tigers, who are outscoring their opponents 53-10 this season, won the battle in corner kicks against Notre Dame.
For the season, Miller and Mya Jones have been Memphis' biggest offensive threats while six other Tiger players have notched multiple goals during the year.
Memphis has one of the most dangerous defenses in Division I with a 43-goal differential while holding opponents to just 7.4 shots per match.
Pitt (16-5-1) is coming off a 4-3 win over Arkansas in Fayetteville on Friday night. After the Razorbacks took a 3-2 lead in the 69', the Panthers got back-to-back goals from Ellie Coffield in the 77' and 89' to secure the victory and end Arkansas' season.
On the offensive end, Pitt is outscoring its opponents 61-24 while getting more than double the shots on-goal than the teams it plays. Sarah Schupansky, Amanda West and Samiah Phiri have combined for 33 of the team's goal this season while a total of nine players have recorded multiple goals.
Between the pipes, Ellie Breech has picked up all 16 wins this year while making 65 saves in over 1,900 minutes of work. Pitt is currently leading the country in corner kicks and shots on-goal per game.
Sunday's match will be the first meeting between Memphis and Pitt.
