CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The University of Memphis Tiger men's soccer team saw its five-game winning streak come to an end Wednesday night after suffering a 1-0 loss to Charlotte.

Following the match, Memphis moves to 9-4-2 on the season and 4-4 in AAC play.

KEY MOMENTS

Both defenses came out hot to start the match; Memphis was held to one shot in the opening frame while Charlotte was able to get four fired off with only one being on goal.
A high strike from outside the box by Charlotte's Jonathan Nyandjo in the 34' would give JD Gunn his first challenge of the night ,but Gunn would stop it easily to keep the 49er's off the board.
After taking the 0-0 tie into the break, Memphis came out swinging with consecutive shots from Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos, Giorgos Kondylis and Gabriel Christensen in the first 10 minutes of the half.
The Tigers would escape near goals from Charlotte in the 59' after Gunn made back-to-back diving saves.
Charlotte would take the 1-0 lead in the 77' off a toe-clip from Nyandjo deep in the box.
The Tigers would get one last look at tying the match late in the game when Rodrigues dos Santos made a one-on-one run with a 49er's defender, but would not be able to convert.

NOTABLES

Memphis was held to just five shots the entire night with two of them being on goal.
Gunn recorded four saves – three of them coming in the second half.
With Florida Atlantic's loss to South Florida Wednesday, Memphis locked in the 4-seed in the AAC Championship.

The Tigers will play in the Quarterfinal round of the AAC Championship on Sunday, Nov. 5 against South Florida at the Track & Soccer Complex. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
