Tigers Put on Showcase at First-Ever Student Madness

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis men's basketball celebrated the start of the 2023-24 season with the first-ever Student Madness inside Elma Roane Fieldhouse Wednesday night.
The event included performances by the band, cheer team and the pom squad. Both the men's and women's teams were introduced to nearly 1,500 students in attendance. Free pizza was given and t-shirts were handed out throughout the night.
The night's first activity saw David Jones, Ashton Hardaway and Jonathan Pierre each team up with a student to compete a the three-point contest.
After a spot-shooting contest from the women's squad, Jayhlon Young, Nick Jourdain and JJ Taylor took the floor for a dunk contest with two women's players, a student and performing artist Big Boogie judging.
Big Boogie closed out the night with a 10-minute show from center court.
The Tigers hit the floor later this month on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. for an exhibition against Lane College.
