Postgame Notes: Memphis vs. UAB

KICKING IT OFF
• Coin Toss: UAB won the coin toss and elected to receive the ball.
• Memphis Captains: Jaylon Allen, Simeon Blair, Seth Henigan and Jacob Likes
• Attendance: 20,269
TEAM NOTES
• With the victory, the Tigers retain the Battle for the Bones trophy. Memphis improved to 6-10 all-time against the Blazers.
• Dating back to the 2021 season, Memphis has forced at least one turnover in 20 of the last 25 games. Over that stretch, the Tigers have totaled 29 interceptions and 17 fumbles. Memphis has forced multiple turnovers in 14 of those 25 contests.
• Memphis has scored 20 or more points in 21-consecutive games, the longest active streak in the nation.
• The 45 points scored by the Tigers is the second-most in the Battle for the Bones series.
• Along with holding the Blazers scoreless in the second half, the Memphis defense allowed UAB just 49 total yards in those 30 minutes.
PLAYER NOTES
• Quarterback Seth Henigan is now ranked fourth all-time with 60 career passing touchdowns.
• After UAB opened the game with a 75 yard, three play drive that resulted in Tejhaun Palmer touchdown and successful two-point conversion, running back Brandon Thomas would put the Tigers on the board with a two-yard rush with 10:45 left in the first quarter.
• Henigan would connect with tight-end Brendan Doyle for a seven-yard reception, Doyle's first catch of the season, to tie the game at 14-14 to open the second quarter (12:55).
• The Tiger defense marked their first stop of the day with 8:04 left in the first half with a turnover on downs from the Blazers. Linebacker Geoffrey Cantin-Arku and defensive lineman CorMontae Hamilton combined for a tackle for a one-yard loss from the UAB offense.
• Memphis extended its forced turnover stretch and took its first lead of the day when defensive back Malik Feaster picked-off a Harrison Barker pass for a 36-yard return with 5:45 remaining in the second quarter.
• A 42-yard field goal from Tanner Gillis put the Tigers back on top 24-21 to start the third quarter.
• Memphis would get its second pick of the day from Simeon Blair, his first career interception, with 8:24 remaining in the third. Blair would run it back to the UAB eight-yard line where running back Blake Watson would finish the drive with an eight-yard run. Gillis nailed the PAT for a 31-21 lead.
• The Tigers would add to their lead late in the third (:36) when Henigan connected to tight end Anthony Landphere for a four-yard reception touchdown.
• Linebacker Chandler Martin came up big for the Tigers on the first play of the fourth quarter, forcing a Blazer fumble that was recovered by Blair at the Memphis 43-yard line.
• Memphis would get its second INT of the game when defensive back Cameron Smith picked off Landry Lyddy with 11:54 remaining in the game.
•Thomas pushed the Tiger lead out when he punched in his second touchdown of the day with a two-yard run with less than three minutes remaining in the game. Gillis drilled his sixth PAT of the day for the 45-21 lead.
•Landphere recorded the longest reception of his career with a 21-yard pick-up as well as his first receiving touchdown – both in the third quarter.
• Koby Drake had a career-high six receptions in the win.
• Watson finished the game with 125 rushing yards. It's the third 100-yard game this season and 12th of his career.
