Jerry Lawler to Release the Tigers on Friday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis legend and WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler will be the "Release the Tigers" honoree at Friday's football game against Tulane at 6 p.m. at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.
Jerry Lawler is one of the most popular voices in the professional wrestling world, and one of the most decorated champions.
Since making his pro debut in 1970 he has won 168 championships. It's a feat that no other wrestler in history has come close to matching. Known simply as "The King", Lawler got his start in pro wrestling in 1970 and won 35 American Wrestling Association Southern Heavyweight Championships to go along with 10 AWA Tag Team Championships.
From 1970 to 1992 he rose to superstardom in over 20 different wrestling federations and associations. In 1992 he joined the WWE and has since become one of the most legendary figures in all of wrestling, serving as a wrestler and commentator for over 20 years.
Lawler's unprecedented contributions to the sport and entertainment industry were recognized with induction into the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame in 1996 and WWE Hall of Fame in 2007.
The Tulane game is also Wrestling Night with matches on Tigers Lane from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Well-known wrestlers will then be in the main concourse inside of Gate 3 signing autographs for fans prior to the game.
When gates open at 4:30 p.m., fans entering the stadium will receive a Memphis football jersey koozie while supplies last thanks to Zips Car Wash.
Single-game tickets for the 2023 Memphis Football season are available at GoTigersGo.com. Additionally, fans can also utilize a new ticket offering this season, allowing fans the choice of how to customize their gamedays at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.
With the Flex Pack, fans can purchase six or more ticket vouchers starting at $99, and from there, can choose how they would like to allocate their vouchers. For example, one voucher could be used for each of Memphis' six home football games, two vouchers could be used to attend each of three games, four vouchers could be used for one game and two more for another, and so on.
