Williams Named AAC Player of the Week

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Memphis Tigers forward DeAndre Williams has been named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week after his efforts in a pair of wins against Wichita State and Cincinnati last week.
It marks Williams' first-career Player of the Week recognition from the conference and the sixth of the season for the Tigers.
Last week, Williams averaged 27.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in 35.1. minutes per game against the Shockers and Bearcats
He started the week with a monster game, the best of his Memphis career. He dropped a season best 29 points and matches his career high with 15 rebounds in an 88-78 victory at home against WSU. He went 9-of-13 from the floor and a career-best 10-of-11 from the free throw line. It was his fourth double-double of the season.
On Sunday, he followed with a 26-point performance to go along with eight rebounds and three dimes in 36 minutes to help the Tigers defeat Cincinnati on the road, 75-68. He shot 10-of-18 from the field and drained all four of his free throws.
Memphis (15-5, 5-2 AAC) is back in Thursday night at home against SMU in a blackout at 6 p.m. on ESPN2. The Tigers will be going for their 16th-straight victory inside the Forum.
