Tigers Travel to SIUE, FIU in Road Swing

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Following a stellar week where the Memphis Tigers collected wins over Central Arkansas and #23 UCF, the team will hit the road to face-off against SIUE and Florida International this Tuesday and Friday, respectively.
Memphis (5-1-1, 2-0 AAC), who found themselves in the TopDrawerSoccer rankings last week, came away with a come from behind win to UCA where the Tigers scored five unanswered goals in the second half and picked up a 3-2 win over #23 UCF for their second conference win of the season.
Alberto Cruz and Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos both recorded multiple goals over the 180 minutes of play, which led to them being named to the American Athletic Conference's Weekly Awards List for the second consecutive week.
SIUE (3-4-1, 0-2 MVC) is coming off their third consecutive loss after they fell 1-0 to Belmont this past Saturday. Pau Palacin leads the Cougars with five goals this season while Eric Bauche and Sam Gomez have split time in goal for SIUE making a combined 19 saves.
The Tigers and Cougars have a long history with one another, dating as far back as 1986. In the most recent meeting between the two teams, Memphis and SIUE played to a 2-2 draw back in 2018 after the Tiger offense scored in the 86'.
Florida International (4-3, 1-1 AAC) is coming off a 6-4 loss to #25 SMU where the Mustangs took an early 4-1 lead after the first half.
For the season, Stephen Afrifa leads the team with five goals while Kevin Harr has been FIU's go-to in goal with 22 saves in 585 minutes of work.
The Tigers have taken six of the last seven matchups with the Panthers while outscoring them 9-4.
