Tigers Earn USMC/AVCA Honor Roll Distinction

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis volleyball team earned the United States Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award this season. With 1,213 teams recognized, including 215 in Division I, Memphis is one of three American Athletic schools to be garner the award.Â

The Tigers were also named to the Honor Roll distinction, which is awarded to teams with in the top 20% of GPAs in their division.
"I am very excited to earn the recognition once again from the AVCA for all the outstanding work our student-athletes have put into their academics over the past year," said volleyball head coach Sean Burdette. "This year is especially exciting knowing that we have finished in the top 20% of all team GPAs in the country. Our team, coaches and support have put in countless hours into this achievement."

"Our Center for Athletic Academic Support Services and their staff provide our players with every tool necessary to be successful off the court and in the classroom," said Burdette.

It is the fifth consecutive year the eighth time in the past 10 years that the Tigers have been recognized by the AVCA for their academic achievements.
