Tiger Coaches Earn ITA Awards

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Memphis Tiger women's tennis head coach Hayden Perez has been named the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Coach of the Year, and associate head coach Ryan Haymond is the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Assistant Coach of the Year.
"This award is a reflection of the team's hard work and dedication," Perez said. "I appreciate being recognized by my peers, but it all comes down to the girls on this team, and I am very proud of them. Ryan was very deserving of this award. The value he brings to this program is impossible to put into words. I am glad he was recognized, and I am extremely happy for him."
Perez, Haymond and the Tigers went 20-7 this season and won the American Athletic Conference championship for the first time in program history. The Tigers' 20 wins on the season were their most since winning 23 matches in 1987. By virtue of winning the AAC crown, Memphis earned its second NCAA Tournament trip in program history, joining 2013.
Perez was also named AAC Coach of the Year for his efforts.
