Tigers to Play for First-Ever AAC Championship Title after Win over South Florida

TULSA, Okla. – The Memphis Tigers will play for an American Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Championship title for the first time, after the fourth-seeded Tigers topped ninth-seeded South Florida, 4-0, in the semifinals of the 2022 AAC Championship Friday evening in Tulsa, Okla.

No. 55 Memphis (19-6) will face third-seeded Tulsa for the title Saturday at 4 p.m. on ESPN+.

"I'm super proud of this team right now," Memphis head coach Hayden Perez said. "They bounced back from a tough loss against SMU to end the regular season with a couple of great matches in the AAC Tournament. The way we came out and took care of business today was pretty impressive. The girls were focused, and it showed."

Aran Teixido Garcia/Camila Romero and Emily Meyer/Monique Woog won the doubles point for the Tigers with victories, and Woog, Romero and Teixido Garcia then won their singles points to seal the match for the Tigers.

"We are looking forward to a great battle with Tulsa tomorrow," Perez continued. "We have a lot of respect for their program, and we know it will be high level on every court."
