Memphis Picks Up Third Road Win in Five Days

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The 70th-ranked Memphis Tiger women's tennis squad earned its third-straight road win, moving to 10-4 on the year with a 4-1 win at TCU Tuesday afternoon in Fort Worth, Texas.
"Today was a great college tennis match," Tiger head coach Hayden Perez said. "For the second consecutive match we lost the doubles point and had our backs against the wall. The fight and determination this team showed was incredible. TCU is a very talented team and they fought very hard as well, and they deserve credit for a heck of a match.
"We learned a lot about ourselves today, and this team is growing each time out. A special thanks to associate head coach Ryan Haymond for his determination and help as well."
After dropping the doubles point, Memphis got back on track with wins by Camila Soares and Emily Meyer on courts five and three, respectively. Aran Teixido Garcia earned a straight-sets win in the first position to make the score 3-1 in favor of the Tigers, and Monique Woog clinched the victory with a hard-fought 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 win on court six.
Freshman Meyer improved to 10-1 in singles play this season, and Woog is now 10-2. Teixido Garcia moved to 8-2 on the campaign.
Memphis returns to Eldon Roark Tennis Center in Memphis on Friday to host Miami (Ohio) at 2:30 and Lipscomb at 7 p.m.
