No. 16 Memphis Ready for NCAA Qualifier on Sunday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 16-ranked University of Memphis rifle team will head to Murray, Ky. to compete in the team's NCAA Qualifier on Sunday, Feb. 20 at 9:15 a.m. CT. The team will shoot with No. 20 UT Martin but will not be competing against them. Live targets for the match can be found at GoTigersGo.com.
The top eight teams with the best average scores will qualify for the NCAA Championships. Averages are determined by each team's best three scores at different locations and their score from the NCAA Qualifier will be added to that total. The top-four individuals in both smallbore and air rifle who are not on a qualifying team will also advance to the NCAA Championships.
The NCAA will announce what teams and individuals qualified for the NCAA Championships on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 2:00 p.m. CT. Currently, the Tigers are ranked 16th for NCAA selection with an average of 4653.57.
The Tigers have faced one of the most difficult schedules in the country this season. Despite the team's 0-10 record, Memphis has shot well against No. 1 West Virginia, No. 4/5 Ole Miss, No. 6 Murray State, No. 7 Navy, No. 9 Akron twice, No. 13 Kentucky, No. 14 NC State and No. 14 Army.
Angeline Henry leads the way for the Tigers this season with team-best averages of 1167.3 in aggregate, 576.5 in smallbore and 590.8 in air rifle. Kaylene Castillo is second on Memphis in both aggregate (1157.1) and air rifle (586.8), while Jack Kersey is second in small bore at 573.222.
