Teixido Garcia Named AAC Player of the Week

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis Tiger women's tennis junior Aran Teixido Garcia has been named the American Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Teixido Garcia went 2-0 in both singles and doubles play to lead Memphis to dual match wins against Xavier (5-2) and South Florida (6-1) last week. She scored a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles in the win against the Musketeers and followed with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at the No. 1 position against the Bulls. She helped the Tigers claim the doubles point in both contests with a pair of wins at No. 2.

Garcia improved to 5-0 in singles and 5-1 in doubles in the 2022 spring season.

"Aran is very deserving of this week's award," Memphis head coach Hayden Perez said. "She has been working hard and doing the little things well."

Teixido Garcia and the Tigers (5-1, 1-0 AAC) are back in action against North Texas Saturday at noon at Eldon Roark Tennis Center in Memphis.
