Dec 05, 2022 | Men's Basketball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Senior DeAndre Williams has been named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll team for his performance on the court this past week.
It marks the first weekly honor of the season for Williams, and the third overall for the Tigers.
The Houston, Texas product averaged 16.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 blocks per game this week in wins over North Alabama and Ole Miss at FedExForum.
Williams shot 14-of-25 (56.0%) overall from the floor and made 3-of-5 free throws.
The forward was only needed for 18 minutes in Wednesday's 87-68 win over the Lions, where he produced 15 points, three rebounds and shot 7-of-9 from the floor.
In Saturday's 68-57 victory over Ole Miss, he was the tone setter and flirted with the four triple-double in program history. Williams scored 17 points, pulled down a season-high 14 rebounds, dished a season-high seven assists and blocked a trio of Rebel shots.
On the season, he's averaging 13.8 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists per outing.
The Tigers (6-2) are back in action Tuesday when they host Little Rock at 7 p.m. in FedExForum, where they will try for their fifth-consecutive victory. Memphis will then go on the road to battle Auburn on Saturday in Atlanta before traveling to Tuscaloosa to match up with Alabama on Tuesday, Dec. 13.
