Tigers Reign Supreme as They Defend AAC Championship Trophy

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Memphis Tiger women's soccer team proved just how resilient they are after taking down SMU in the American Athletic Conference Championship Finals 1-0 in OT. They also secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament with today's win.
After today's game, Memphis moves to 9-5-5 for the season.

- After a scoreless first half where the Mustangs and Tigers saw just six combined shots, Memphis would come out swinging in the second half winning the battle on shots 12-1.
- Memphis would get near misses from Saorla Miller, Anne-Valerie Seto and Mya Jones in the second frame that put immense pressure on the SMU defense.
- Following 90 minutes of scoreless play, the Tigers and Mustangs would head to overtime where Momo Nakao would find the feet of Shae Taylor deep in the box in the 99' for the go-ahead goal.
- The Tigers would fend off three SMU shots in the second overtime, including a diving stop from Claire Wyville to save the match.

- Memphis won the battle in shots (17-7) and corner kicks (5-2).
- Wyville recorded two saves while the Memphis defense blocked one shot.
- Today's shutout marks the team's eighth this season.
- Shae Taylor and Claire Wyville were named the AAC Most Outstanding Offensive and Defensive Players, respectively, while Taylor, Wyville, Lilly Huber, Haylee Spray and Grace Stordy were named to the All-Tournament Team.
- This is the second consecutive AAC Championship that the Tigers have won and the third overall.
- The Tigers will make their fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA National Tournament.
