Tigers Close out Fall Season with Big Weekend at Bonita Bay Classic

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - With the completion of the Bonita Bay Classic over the weekend, Memphis women's tennis wrapped up its fall season as the Tigers claimed 15 total victories over three days against Notre Dame, Purdue and Florida Gulf Coast in Bonita Springs.

Camila Soares led the squad with a perfect 6-0 weekend across doubles and singles action, while Monique Woog closed strong with a 5-1 mark.

The duo went 3-0 in doubles together with a 6-3 win over the Irish, a 6-4 victory over the Boilermakers and a 6-0 blanking of the Eagles. Soares won her first two singles matches in straight sets (6-4, 6-0) and (7-6, 6-4) before closing out FGCU's Amelia Kopel 6-1, 2-6, 10-5 in her final match of the weekend.

Woog also took care of business in straight sets on the first day, claiming a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Notre Dame on Friday before winning 6-3, 6-7(3), 10-8 against FGCU's Jordana Ossa on Sunday.

Emily Meyer claimed three victories, while Aran Teixidó Garcia, Dolavee Tumthong, and Miriam Grosmann each brought home a pair of wins from the classic.

"It was great to wrap up our fall season at such an amazing event," head coach Hayden Perez said. "The location was beautiful and the competition was great.

"Competing against Notre Dame, Purdue, and FGCU really gave us an idea of where we stand heading into the break. We are looking forward to a few days off before beginning to prepare for a challenging spring schedule. Go Tigers Go."
