Cross Country to Race in NCAA South Regional

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis harriers are ready to kick off the NCAA Division I Cross Country South Regional Friday in Huntsville, Ala.
The meet will be held at the John Hunt Cross Country Running Park, where the women's 6k is set to begin at 8:30 a.m., and the men will follow in the 10k at 9:30.
This is the second meet the Tigers have had in Huntsville this season, with the first being the North Alabama Showcase in September.
Two weeks ago at the American Athletic Conference Championships, Chloe Figgins, Payton Gleason and Zachary Wyatt all took home all-conference honors for finishing as top-15 athletes. The men's team claimed fourth, while the women placed sixth.
In last season's regional, Gleason earned All Region honors, placing 24th in a field of more than 175 runners.
The men's team will begin the weekend ranked 10th in the region.
Also included in the south region are nationally-ranked Alabama and Tennessee on the men's side, and Alabama and Florida State for the women.
