Wyatt and Figgins Pace Cross Country Teams at Louisville Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Memphis harriers finished competition Saturday at the Louisville Cross Country Classic, led by Zachary Wyatt for the men and Chloe Figgins for the women.

Both teams competed in the Gold Races, the most difficult and competitive division of the meet. Wyatt crossed the finish line at 24:09.1 (34th) in the men's 8k, and Figgins paced the women, placing 36th with a time of 17:25.6 in the 5k.

Wyatt, Payton Gleason and Hudson Hurst were the top three Tigers to finish the 8k, all placing in the top 65 of 301 athletes. With a combined team effort, the men had an 11th-place team performance in the division of 31 teams.

On the women's side, Figgins was followed by freshman Ashleigh Anderson (144th) and Brooke Mussche (164th) out of 373 runners. The women's squad finished 27th in a field of 41 teams.

Next up, the Tigers look forward to the Annual Blazer Classic in two weeks, which is their last meet before the American Athletic Conference Championships.
