Minott Earns Another AAC Freshman of the Week Honor

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis Tigers forward Josh Minott has been named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week, marking his third conference award in five weeks in the month of January.

Minott was also named the conference's Freshman of the Week Jan. 3, and he was on the league's weekly Honor Roll Jan. 10.

Minott recorded a 13-point, 12-rebound double-double in Memphis' win over East Carolina Thursday night, giving him two double-doubles on the season and tying Jalen Duren for the team lead. He also had two assists, two blocks and a steal against the Pirates. Minott has scored in double figures in back-to-back games and five times in his last eight outings. On the season, Minott is averaging 7.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, and he is one of three Tigers to play in all 19 Memphis games this year.

The Boca Raton, Fla., native is the only freshman in the nation with at least 20 assists, 15 steals and 10 blocked shots while playing fewer than 20.0 minutes per game this season.

Memphis (11-8, 5-4 AAC) is back in action Thursday at Cincinnati at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN2. The Tigers return to FedExForum on Saturday against UCF at 7 p.m. The game against UCF features a Larry Finch & Penny Hardaway commemorative "Coaches Edition" coin giveaway for the first 5,000 fans, presented by Regional One Health.
