Memphis Looks to Continue Momentum Tuesday Night against Tulsa

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After handing Wichita State its largest home loss since 2003, the Memphis Tigers return to FedExForum for their American Athletic Conference home opener Tuesday night against Tulsa. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m., and the game will be televised on ESPNU.

Memphis shot 52.4 percent as a team and held the Shockers to 29.5 percent shooting Saturday morning, and the Tigers never trailed by more than two points in the game. Wichita State's previous largest home defeat before Memphis won by 18 on New Year's Day was a 94-59 setback to Southern Illinois on Feb. 1, 2003.

Tulsa enters Tuesday's game after a 74-69 loss to SMU on Dec. 29 in its first conference game of the year. The Golden Hurricane are 6-6 on the year, but their last three losses are by five points apiece and their first two of the season were by one point and four points. Tulsa has had Memphis' number in recent seasons, as the Golden Hurricane won both matchups last year and three-straight overall, plus four of the last five and five of the last seven.

The Golden Hurricane are led by Jeriah Horne's 16.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game, and the graduate student leads the AAC in rebounding and ranks fifth in scoring. Horne's father, Jerrell, was teammates with Memphis head coach Penny Hardaway on the 1992-93 Tigers.

Following Tuesday's game, the Tigers remain home to host Cincinnati Sunday afternoon at 2:30.
Sunday's game will be televised on ABC.
