Harris’ Big Week Earns AAC Weekly Recognition

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After averaging 20.5 points per game in Memphis' two contests last week, senior guard Tyler Harris has been named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll.
Harris came off the bench against SMU on Thursday and at Tulsa on Sunday and played an average of 30.2 minutes per game, leading the team in scoring at 20.5 points per outing. He shot 50.0 percent from 3-point range (7-14) and 60.0 percent from the floor overall (15-25) last week.
The Memphis, Tenn., native began the week with 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting against SMU, and he was critical in the Tigers' win over Tulsa with a season-high 24 points including a season-best six 3-pointers.
On the year, Harris is averaging 9.9 points per game in 18.0 minutes per contest, and he has scored in double figures in five-straight games and 20-plus in two. Harris is shooting 49.3 percent from 3 this season (36-73), which would lead the AAC if he hit the league minimum of an average of 2.5 makes per game.
This is Harris' first AAC honor of the season. He was the AAC Freshman of the Week twice in 2018-19.
Memphis returns to FedExForum on Thursday against East Carolina at 8 p.m. Thursday's game is a Black Out, with fans encouraged to wear black, and it is also the Coaches vs. Cancer game. Speed painter Jessica Haas will be performing at halftime.
