Tigers Start Season with Success in Cincinnati

CINCINNATI – The Memphis Tiger women's tennis team began the 2021-22 campaign in the Xavier Invite in Cincinnati, taking on the host Musketeers, Cincinnati and Dayton.
On the weekend, Monique Woog won all three of her singles matches, and Miriam Grosmann and Aran Teixido Garcia went 2-0. Emily Meyer, Camila Romero and Dolavee Tumthong all won multiple matches as well.
In doubles, the teams of Alisha Reayer/Romero, Grossman/Meredith Jones, Meyer/Romero and Reayer/Teixido Garcia recorded victories.
"Overall, I was happy with the weekend," Tigers head coach Hayden Perez said. "It was our first time to compete this year, and assistant coach Ryan Haymond and I saw some great things from the team and lots of positives. "We also identified some things to work on, but that is to be expected and it was just great to watch this group compete for the first time. We are looking forward to getting back to work."
Memphis next competes in ITF 15k tournaments in Hilton Head, S.C. (Oct. 4-10) and Norman, Okla. (Oct. 11-15).
