Tumthong Wins Tigers' Third Summer Event

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Memphis Tigers rising sophomore Dolavee Tumthong won the ITA Denver Summer Circuit Championship, which marks the third summer circuit title by a Tiger this year. Monique Woog won the Huntsville and Louisville championships.
"Dolavee winning the ITA in Denver marks the third event won by a Memphis player this summer," Tigers head coach Hayden Perez said. "Our players are doing what is necessary to improve this summer, and that makes Ryan Haymond and I proud coaches."
Tumthong knocked off Madeline Monroy in the Round of 16, 7-5, 6-4; Veronika Bruetting in the quarterfinals, 6-3, 6-4; Britt Pursell in the semifinals, 7-5, 7-6(7-2); and Valerie Negin in the finals, 6-3, 7-5.
