No. 23 Tigers look to bounce back against UCF
Mar 06, 2021 | Women's Soccer
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Coming off its first loss of the season, the No. 23 Memphis women's soccer team returns home to face American Athletic Conference rival UCF on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. on Park Avenue Campus. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Attendance at home games this season is limited to player and staff guests.
The Tigers began the season with shutout wins over UAB and Tulsa before falling 3-1 at Ole Miss on Monday. UCF, also 2-1 this season, has played only conference competition with victories over Temple and Cincinnati and a 3-2 loss at Tulsa last Sunday.
Memphis and UCF last met in September of 2019, a 1-0 win for the Tigers in Orlando. The Golden Knights defeated the Tigers 2-0 in October of 2018, but Memphis avenged that loss with a 1-0 victory in the conference tournament on its way to an AAC title that season.
Voted by league coaches as the top team in the AAC prior to the season, Memphis hasn't allowed a goal in its past three regular-season conference games dating back 2019. Last week, Memphis senior forward Clarissa Larisey was named AAC Offensive Player of the Week while junior defender Kimberley Smit was earned AAC Defensive Player of the Week.
