Memphis men’s golf defeats Cincinnati in Schenkel Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. – Memphis men's golf defeated AAC foe Cincinnati in the 41st Schenkel Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club Sunday behind Guillaume Chevalier's 2-under final round 70 to tie for 21st with a 72-78-70—220.
No. 21 NC State won with a 25-under 839, 27 shots ahead of host Georgia Southern with an 866. Furman finished third at 870 ahead of Florida Gulf Coast (873), East Tennessee State (882), Kentucky (884), Middle Tennessee (886), Rutgers (886), College of Charleston (888) and Memphis (293-299-298—890) to round out the top 10.
Campbell finished in 11th at 891 followed by Cincinnati (905) and Troy (908).
Also for the Tigers, Tyran Snyders (75-72-76—223) and Borja Martin (76-72-75—223) tied for 33rd while Alec Stopperich (70-77-78—225) tied for 46th and Mitchell Bowlin (76-81-77—234) finished 72nd.
NC State's Benjamin Shipp won medalist honors with an 11-shot victory at 16-under 66-66-68—220.
After three-straight tournaments in the State of Georgia, the Tigers have reached the mid-point of the season as they return to action at the Hoosier Invitational at the PFAU Course at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., April 3-4.
Memphis will then play in the Stones River C.C. Intercollegiate in Murfreesboro, Tenn., April 12-13 before concluding the season at the AAC Championship at Southern Hill Plantation Club in Brooksville, Fla., April 23-25.
