Memphis men’s golf opens Schenkel Invitational play Friday

STATESBORO, Ga. – Memphis men's golf will play in the 41st Schenkel Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club Friday through Sunday, marking the Tigers' third-straight tournament in the State of Georgia.
The 14-team field includes Army, Campbell, Cincinnati, College of Charleston, ETSU, FGCU, Furman, Georgia Southern, Kentucky, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, NC State, Notre Dame and Rutgers.
The Tigers finished tied for seventh in the 16-team Linger Longer Invitational in Eatonton, Ga., this past weekend behind freshman Tyran Snyders, who placed seventh individually with a 5-under 71-68-72—211. Memphis opened the season at the Spartan Collegiate at Sea Island Golf Club's Plantation Course in St. Simons Island, Ga., March 8-9, finishing tied for 14th of 16.
Georgia Southern is the only team in the field that has won the event, but NC State has finished in the top-5 10 times and produced two medalists. Kentucky has seven top-5 finishes, and ETSU has three. Memphis and Notre Dame have each finished in the top-5 once.
Following Thursday's practice round, Friday's first round begins with split tees at 8 a.m. CT. The second round is Saturday at 8 a.m. CT with the third and final round on Sunday beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT.
