Tiger Football begins spring practice Sunday
Mar 11, 2021 | Football
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Tigers football program will hold its first spring practice of 2021 on Sunday at Park Avenue Campus.
The 15 practices over five weeks will be the first spring camp under head coach Ryan Silverfield after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of practices a year ago. Memphis will conclude its spring with the Friday Night Stripes Spring Game on April 16 at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. Information regarding attendance for Friday Night Stripes will be released at a later date.
"We have bright days ahead and we're excited," Silverfield said. "It's a great time to figure out spots through competition. We have very few positions where we can say for certain who is the starter. It's important to get out there and go compete."
As practices begin, spring media availability will be held via Zoom with practices closed to the media and public. Further details on accessing the Zoom sessions will be released to the media soon.
Memphis finished 8-3 in its first season under Silverfield in 2020, marking the highest winning percentage by a first-year head coach in school history. The Tigers also earned their first bowl victory since 2014, defeating Florida Atlantic 25-10 in the Montgomery Bowl.
The 2021 season is set to open Sept. 4 against Nicholls State at the Liberty Bowl. For ticket information on the upcoming season, click here or call the Memphis Athletics Ticket Office at 901.678.2331.
