Tigers Wrap Up Fall Schedule
Nov 08, 2021 | Women's Tennis
STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Memphis Tiger women's tennis squad finished its fall slate over the weekend in the John Cade Invitational in Starkville, Miss.
Â
During the three-day competition, Alisha Reayer, Camila Romero and Dolavee Tumthong all won two singles matches, and Emily Meyer, Aran Teixido-Garcia and Monique Woog also recorded victories.
Â
The Tigers experimented with various doubles teams, with five pairs earning victories throughout the three days. Teixido-Garcia won twice, paired with Meyer and then Woog. Meredith Jones also had two doubles wins, first with Woog and then Romero, giving Woog two wins as well.
Â
"We faced some great competition at Mississippi State, and throughout the weekend we had some bright spots," Memphis head coach Hayden Perez said. "I think the highlight of the weekend was Camila Romero defeating Emma Antonaki from Mississippi State, who is the 22nd-ranked singles player in the country.
Â
"Overall I was happy with our fall season. We had two different singles players defeat top-100 ranked players, we had a doubles team defeat the fifth-ranked team in the country and we played a lot of matches. I hope we can build on this fall and enter the spring season with a lot of energy, which is only eight weeks away."
