Owens, Henigan Earn Weekly AAC Recognition

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis defensive back Rodney Owens was named the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, while true freshman quarterback Seth Henigan was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll.
Owens was all over the field in the Tigers' 28-25 win over No. 23/24 SMU this past Saturday at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, racking up six tackles, one sack and one interception. The redshirt senior made the biggest play of the game for Memphis, sealing the victory with an interception as the Mustangs were driving with less than two minutes remaining.
Returning from injury, Henigan was terrific for the Tigers on Saturday, completing 34-of-53 passes for 392 yards and two touchdowns. The 300-yard passing game was the fifth this season for the true freshman.
The Memphis Tigers will host AAC-rival ECU on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. CT at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
