MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A pair of true freshmen earned weekly American Athletic Conference (AAC) honors for the University of Memphis football team on Monday, as quarterback Seth Henigan was named Offensive Player of the Week and kicker David Kemp was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
Henigan continued his stellar play this season in the 33-28 win over Tulane this past Saturday, completing 27-of-42 passes for 336 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. Also in the victory, Henigan became the first freshman quarterback, redshirt or otherwise, to surpass the 3,000 passing yard mark at Memphis.
On the season, Henigan has completed 235-of-393 passes for 3,322 yards, 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions. The Denton, Texas native ranks 11th in the nation in passing yards per game (302.0), 15th in passing yards (3,322) and 18th in passing touchdowns (25).
Kemp was perfect on Saturday for Memphis, connecting on field goals of 28 and 40 yards, as well as converting all three of his extra points. His 40-yard effort and nine points on the day were both career-bests.
