MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tigers and South Florida Bulls battled to a scoreless draw after two overtime periods Sunday night in Memphis, Tenn., setting up a pivotal final match of the regular season next week to determine the American Athletic Conference Tournament field.

Memphis (5-8-2, 4-4-1 AAC) has 13 points and currently holds the fourth and final spot in the tournament field. South Florida (5-7-2, 3-5-1 AAC) is right behind with 10 points and hosts last-place Temple on Friday. Memphis is at third-place SMU Friday night and would secure the last tournament spot with a result.

KEY MOMENTS

The Tigers fired three shots in the middle part of the second half that could have put them ahead, but Bull goalkeeper Kazuna Takase made two saves.
Freshman Memphis keeper Colin Welsh had three-straight saves in the 73rd minute to keep South Florida scoreless.
In the first overtime period, Emanuel Santos had a good look in front of the net, but his strike was saved by Takase.
Welsh made a diving stop on a free kick in the 107th minute to keep South Florida off the board.

NOTABLES

The Tigers honored the contributions of Artur De Luca, Maxi Galizzi, Ford Hunt, Parker Lackland, Erik Sigman and Robin Walsh on Senior Night.
Santos had three of Memphis' 10 shots in the match.
Memphis had a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks.
The shutout is Welsh's third of the season, and he finished with a career high-tying eight saves.

UP NEXT

The regular season finishes Friday at SMU at 7 p.m., before the AAC Tournament is played Nov. 10 and Nov. 13 at the home site of top-seeded Tulsa.
