Jan 11, 2021 | Women's Basketball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After recording four three-pointers at Tulsa, Memphis guard Madison Griggs has been named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the second time this season, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Against Tulsa, Griggs totaled 14 points. She was one of four Tigers to score in double-digits and accounted for more than half of the three-pointers made by the team. She averages 2.3 three-pointers per game and totals 16 steals making her the team leader in both categories.
"Madison's work ethic is unmatched. She gets shots up daily and has stepped up this season as one of our top vocal and emotional leaders," said Memphis head coach Melissa McFerrin. "She's seen the ball go through the net these last couple of games at critical moments and I believe her best is right around the corner."
Last season Griggs earned a spot on the AAC's All-Freshman Team. She led the conference and was first nationally among freshmen with her 88 three-pointers. She also made the third most three-pointers in a single season ever in the history of Memphis basketball (men's and women's).
Memphis heads to Tampa to take on USF on Sunday, Jan. 17 at the Yuengling Center. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. CT and the game can be seen on ESPNU. For more information on the Memphis women's basketball team, follow the Tigers on social media at @MemphisWBB.
