White named Offensive Player of the Week, while Dykes lands on Weekly Honor Roll
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Quarterback Brady White added to his game one list of accolades Monday morning as he was named the American Athletic Conference's Offensive Player of the Week. In addition to White's honor, tight end Sean Dykes was named to the league's Weekly Honor Roll.
Monday morning's announcement marks the second time White has earned the league's Offensive Player of the Week honor, previously garnering the recognition on Nov. 18, 2019 after throwing for 341 yards and five touchdowns at Houston. Dykes's Weekly Honor Roll nod is the first of his career.
White, the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Week last week, threw for 280 yards and four touchdowns in Memphis' 37-24 victory against Arkansas State. His performance marked the fifth time in his career he threw for at least four touchdowns and his 39 yards on the ground marked a career-high.
He also established a Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium career high with 27 completions at a clip of 72.9 percent.
White currently sits 365 yards shy of matching former Tiger Riley Ferguson for third on the Memphis career passing yards list. He currently has 7,590 career passing yards and 63 touchdowns. His 63 touchdowns are third-most in program history.
After missing the final 10 games of the 2019 season due to injury, Dykes returned to the gridiron and hauled in 137 receiving yards and a career-high two touchdowns against the Red Wolves. It was the second 100-plus yard receiving game of his career.
Dykes' 10-catch effort was also a career high. He was the first Tiger with double digit catches since Damonte Coxie pulled in 10 against ECU in 2018. Of his 10 catches, eight of them yielded either a first down or a touchdown.
The Tigers are scheduled to return to action on Sept. 25 at UTSA.
