
Women's Basketball Senior Salute: Gazmyne Herndon

Gazmyne Herndon, a transfer from Walters State Community College, returned to her hometown to compete for the Tigers in 2018. In two years, Herndon appeared in 62 games with 48 starts.
As the starting point guard for the Tigers, Herndon racked up 450 points in two seasons, an average of 7.3 points per game. She also pulled down 252 career rebounds and finished her career with 208 assists.
2019-20 (Senior)
- Started in 29 games with 31 total appearances
- Averaged a career-high 8.4 points, ranking fourth on the team
- Led the Tigers with 120 assists, the 10th-most assists in a single-season by a Memphis senior
- Recorded a career-high 37 steals, including a career-high five in the win against Mississippi Valley State
- Dished out a career-high nine assists at UConn on Feb. 7
- Scored a season-high 16 points on the road at Toledo on Nov. 24
- Finished with 15 double-digit scoring performance, including at least 10 points in five of the last six games
- Was two assists shy of a double-double three times, against Mississippi Valley State (13 points, eight assists), at SMU (13 points, eight assists) and against SMU in the first round of the AAC Championship (13 points, eight assists)
- Finished with 11 points and nine rebounds in Memphis’ win against Kansas State in the Junkanoo Jam on Nov. 29
- Improved from a 34.5 field goal percentage as a junior to a 43.9 percent mark as a senior
2018-19 (Junior)
- Played in all 31 games, starting 19. Earned a start in 15 of the last 17 games
- Averaged 6.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Led the team with 88 assists
- Registered a season-high eight assists twice, against Wichita State (1/12) and Temple (3/4)
- Collected a season-high 12 rebounds against Tulane (1/30)
- Defensively, was third on the team with 36 steals and was second with 23 blocks
- Scored a career-high 19 points on 7-for-13 shooting against Coastal Carolina (11/25)
- Led the team in scoring with 15 points in the comeback win over Temple in the first round of the AAC Championship (3/9)
